Our fleet of open four wheel drive vehicles are specially adapted to provide good viewing positions for all passengers and can carry up to 9 people (although rarely carry this many). Rangers are not restricted just to the dirt tracks have the ability to take the vehicles just about anywhere on the reserve as long as it is safe to do so. It can be bumpy at times but often the rewards outweigh any momentary discomfort!

Our fully trained rangers are assisted by a tracker who sits at the very front of the vehicle to scour the bush and tracks for signs of wildlife. All vehicles carry a spotlight, medical kit, rifle, blankets, rain smocks and a VHF radio.

Games drives are best conducted in the cooler part of the day when most animals are active. Hence morning games drives usually depart for a three hour drive around 6am and the afternoon drive departs around 4pm. Once the sun sets the tracker uses a powerful spotlight to locate game in the dark. Night sightings are often the best when the stars are shining and the bush is apparently still.

Do bring camera’s, binoculars and comfortable clothing and shoes. Remember that although the climate at Kwa Madwala is warm year round mornings and evenings spent at the back of an open air vehicle can be chilly. Bring a hat, fleece or jumper.

Pre-departure drinks and rusks or cake is served as well as tea and coffee on the morning drive. At around 6pm your ranger will find a suitable spot to stop and enjoy something cold as the sun sets.
